Planning approval granted for the replacement of an existing dwelling with two new mirrored 4 bedroom detached houses
Sawkings Architects Ltd pleased to announce yet another one of our projects at ‘The Lilacs’ in Leatherhead has achieved approval at Planning Committee.
The proposal sees the replacement of an existing dwelling with two new mirrored 4 bedroom detached houses, designed to reflect the character of the local area.
During the design development particular consideration was given to planning policies relating to improving the appearance of the local character, as guiding principles for making the scheme acceptable to the Council.
While determining the material finishes, the local dwellings were analysed and elements from them – incorporated into the design. The appearance has been thoroughly thought out in the selection of stretcher bond red brick, red tile hanging and stacked bond brick detailing in order to adhere to its local architectural character while conveying a modern read of traditional building approach
Many Thanks to Don Murphy of Nova Planning, Maxika Homes, and Simlaw Ecology for their inputs on the application
