Sawkings Architects have secured an outline planning permission for 22 new homes in Hookwood, Horley, with a landscape-led design response to an Allocated Site.

The scheme delivers a mix of dwelling sizes, supported by private and shared landscape areas. New pedestrian and vehicular routes are proposed to enhance connectivity with the existing highway network.

The outline proposal draws on the local vernacular built environment, while also responding to the unique needs of contemporary living, by providing communal amenity areas with play space, shared surface circulation and allotment spaces as an alternative private outdoor amenity for the proposed apartments.

Design development was informed by a public exhibition and engagement with local residents and the local Parish Council, alongside close collaboration with specialist consultants. The process has ensured that the scheme meets the requirements of the Local Planning Authority, while remaining respectful of the rural character of the area.
